I’m a Family Medicine physician who now works full-time in the Emergency Department — which means I’ve seen medicine from both ends of the spectrum. The quiet continuity of knowing a patient for years, and the urgent clarity of a critical moment.
That dual perspective shapes everything I write here. My goal is simple: translate what we actually know in medicine into language that helps real people make better decisions about their health. No jargon, no false certainty, no oversimplification.
Outside the ER, I’m a licensed pilot — I earned my wings in 2005 and still find the cockpit one of the best places to clear my head. I’m also co-founder of UpCup Koffee, a functional mushroom coffee blending Colombian Arabica with NAD+, Lion’s Mane, and Shilajit. It started as a physician’s curiosity about evidence-based supplementation and became something I’m genuinely proud of. You can learn more at upcupkoffee.com.
I have three children from a previous chapter of my life — Bailey, William, and Malcolm. Malcolm passed away in November 2021, and not a day goes by that he isn’t with us. Sarah and I are raising our two children, Liam and Lane, together. We love being on the water and getting lost somewhere with a good campfire.
Evidence-Based Health Insights is my way of giving patients what I wish more doctors had time to explain.
